Solomon’s Seal Soup With Chicken Feet Recipe

Legend has it that there was a palace maid who was abused and overworked. Her skin become calloused and rough due to hard work. One day, she escaped into the mountains and lived on solomon’s seal. As time goes by, her skin became soft and silky again. A folklore perhaps, but chinese mothers are firm believers of the efficacy of solomon’s seal on beautiful skin.

Both chicken and duck feet contain high level of collagen. Scientific research has shown that collagen is good for beautiful skin, helps retains moisture and maintain firmness.

INGREDIENTS:

30g solomon’s seal
2 pairs chicken feet
1000ml water
Dash of cooking wine
Pinch of salt
Dash of vinegar

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Wash and clean the solomon’s seal. Cut into shorter strips if they are too long
  2. Soak the solomon’s seal in room temperature water before using it
  3. Clean the chicken feet by removing the outer skin layer and trimming the claws
  4. Place chicken feet and solomon’s seal in a clay pot
  5. Add the water
  6. Bring to the boil then lower to a simmer
  7. Add the cooking wine and salt
  8. Continue to simmer till the chicken feet is tender
  9. Add a dash of vinegar before serving
